Hyundai did tell us that it wouldn’t be before the turn of the century before we would see the arrival of the 2019 Hyundai Santa Cruz come to dealerships. Now the design is more or less complete but still the car maker doesn’t think that the timing is right to launch the vehicle.
The production version of the Hyundai Santa Cruz is said to be close to being finalized and it is possible that the vehicle might show up at the 2016 LA Auto Show or perhaps the 2017 Detroit Auto Show.
We are not expecting the shape or the proportions to have changed but Hyundai may well smooth out some of the most aggressive lines and contours so that the design is easier on the eye of the prospective buyer.
The Hyundai Santa Cruz was announced close to the reveal of the second generation of the Honda Ridgeline. It is thought that it is going up against the Honda HR-V, Subaru Outback and the Ram 1500.
We are not expecting the Hyundai Santa Cruz to be able to double up as a workhorse though, unlike the Honda Ridgeline. It is technically classed as being a pickup truck but in actual fact it is more like a crossover with a bed.
