Hyundai lead us to believe that we would have to wait until the turn of the decade before the launch of the Hyundai Santa Cruz. However they then revealed that the design of the vehicle is more or less completed. While this may be so it doesn’t mean that they are going to launch it any earlier as they have said that they are not ready to launch it yet.

The production model is almost finalized though and we are expecting to see it at the 2016 LA Auto Show or the 2017 Detroit Auto Show. They said that the shape and the proportions of the Hyundai Santa Cruz is going to remain the same. We are expecting Hyundai to put the vehicle up against the Honda HR-V, Subaru Outback and the RAM 1500 crossover from the FCA.

However the Hyundai Santa Cruz has the base of the Hyundai Tucson and so we cannot expect it to be able to double up as a workhorse, like the Honda Ridgeline. This is a pickup but it is more of a crossover with a bed than it is a Honda truck.
