Hyundai told us that we should not expect to see the arrival of the 2019 Hyundai Santa Cruz before the turn of the decade, even though we know that the design of it is already completed, more or less. It looks like the car maker doesn’t think that now is the right time to launch the vehicle.
We have heard that Hyundai are finalizing the vehicle and it is expected to show up at the 2016 LA Auto Show or perhaps the 2017 Detroit Auto Show.
We aren’t expecting any big changes to the proportion or the shape but Hyundai may smooth some of the aggressive lines out to make the vehicle easier on the eye of the buyer.
The Hyundai Santa Cruz was revealed close to the second generation Honda Ridgeline and it is going to be setting its sights on the Honda HR-V, Subaru Outback and the Ram 1550 crossover.
The Honda Ridgeline does have the advantage though as it can double as a medium weight workhorse, something which the Hyundai Tucson isn’t going to be able to do. This is a pickup but it may be classed as being more of a crossover with a bed.
