Hyundai told us that it wouldn’t be until the turn of the century before the Santa Cruz rolled out to dealerships, despite the fact that the design was more or less completed. The car maker seems to think that the timing for the launch isn’t right.
The production version of the 2019 Hyundai Santa Cruz is said to have been finalized by the car maker and it could come out at the LA Auto Show in 2016 or perhaps the Detroit Auto Show in 2017.
We are expecting the shape of the Hyundai Santa Cruz to remain as it us along with the proportions but it is thought that perhaps Hyundai might smooth out the contours and lines so that the vehicle is easier on the eye.
The vehicle was announced close to the second generation Honda Ridgeline reveal and it should be competing against the Honda HR-V and the Subaru Outback, along with the Ram 1500.
However we are not expecting the Hyundai Santa Cruz to work as a medium weight workhorse. It is a pickup but it acts more like a crossover with a bed.
