Hyundai said that we would not get to see the Hyundai Santa Cruz before the turn of the decade. They have almost completed the design of the vehicle but they said that it isn’t the right moment now to launch the vehicle.
We did hear that the production version of the Hyundai Santa Cruz is almost finalized and it is thought that we may see it arrive at the LA Auto Show in 2016 or perhaps at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show.
The proportion and shape of the Hyundai Santa Cruz is going to remain unchanged, however it is thought that Hyundai may work on smoothing out some of the more aggressive lines and contours of the vehicle. This would then make it easier on the eye of the prospective buyer.
The Hyundai Santa Cruz was announced very close to the reveal of the 2nd generation of the Honda Ridgeline and when it does arrive on the market it is going up against the Honda HR-V and the Subaru Outback along with the FCA crossover that was derived from the Ram 1500.
However unlike the Honda Ridgeline it isn’t thought that the Hyundai Santa Cruz is going to be able to double up as a workhorse in the medium weight category. It does happen to be a pickup but it does look more along the lines of a crossover with a bed.
