Hyundai told us that the Hyundai Santa Cruz wouldn’t come out before the turn of the decade; however the design of the vehicle is now almost complete. The car maker said that although this may be true they are not close to the correct timing for launching the vehicle just yet.
The production version design of the Hyundai Santa Cruz is close to being finalized and we may see it arrive at the LA Auto Show or perhaps the Detroit Auto Show.
The overall shape of the vehicle and the size should remain unchanged while Hyundai are smoothing out some of the most aggressive of the contours along with the lines of the vehicle so as to make it easier on the eyes when it goes into production.
The Hyundai Santa Cruz has been announced close to the showing off of the second generation Honda Ridgeline and the Cruz is going to be going up against the Honda HR-V, Subaru Outback and the crossover that is coming based on the Ram 1500.
However unlike the Honda Ridgeline we are not expecting the Hyundai Santa Cruz to be able to double up as a workhorse in the medium weight division. It may technically be a pickup truck but in fact it is more along the lines of a crossover that comes with a bed.
