Hyundai told us that we wouldn’t see the Hyundai Santa Cruz hit dealerships before the turn of the decade; however the design of it is almost complete. Despite this the car maker believes that now isn’t the time to launch the vehicle.
The production version of the Hyundai Santa Cruz is getting finalized by Hyundai and we think that it might be shown off at the 2016 LA Auto Show or the 2017 Detroit Auto Show.
The shape and the proportions of the vehicle should not be changed, however Hyundai are smoothing out the more aggressive contours to make it easier on the eye when it goes into production.
It was announced around the same time as the second generation of the Honda Ridgeline was revealed and the Hyundai Santa Cruz is going to go up against the Honda HR-V, Subaru Outback and the Ram1500, despite the fact that it offers a small bed.
However don’t expect the Hyundai Santa Cruz to take on the role of a workhorse. While it may be classed as a pickup, it is actually more like a crossover that comes with a bed.
