Hyundai did say that it wasn’t going to be until the turn of the decade before they would send the Hyundai Santa Cruz to dealers, despite the fact that they have already come close to finishing the design of the vehicle. They said that now isn’t the right time to launch the vehicle.
The production version design is said to be close to being finished and there is talk that maybe the Hyundai Santa Cruz will show up at the 2016 LA Auto Show or maybe the 2017 Detroit Auto Show.
It isn’t likely that Hyundai are going to change the proportions or the shape of the Hyundai Santa Cruz, however they may smooth the more aggressive lines and the contours so that the vehicle is better to look at.
Hyundai announced the Hyundai Santa Cruz very close to the second generation Honda Ridgeline reveal and the truck is going to go up against the Subaru Outback, Honda HR-V and the crossover based on the Ram 1500.
The Hyundai Santa Cruz should not be thought of as a workhorse though, the vehicle may be a pickup but its more along the lines of a crossover with a bed.
