While the BMW 2-Series is not exactly affordable, the entry level BMW M2 is certainly a steal for those looking for an M model but that might end when BMW bring in the 2019 BMW 2-Series next year.
BMW Blog reported that BMW is planning to replace their entry level model with the new BMW M2 Competition. This means the end for the affordable M model and also possibly the end of the 3.0-liter turbo N55 six-cylinder engine.
It is believed that the new BMW M2 Competition model will be fitted with the BMW M4 S55 engine but unlike the M4, the M2 Competition engine will be tuned to deliver only 400hp and 500Nm.
However, since the BMW M2 is smaller and lighter, the tuning of the engine made sense. BMW is also working on a track focuses M2 model called the GTS which should come with a 450HP S55 engine.
