Talks about the Volkswagen Passat GT becoming a production model started last year when Volkswagen showed off the Passat GT Concept and now it looks like we are getting closer to seeing the Volkswagen Passat GT.

According to Digital Trends, a Volkswagen spokesperson confirms that they will be releasing a 2018 Volkswagen Passat GT model. In case you have forgotten what the vehicle looked like in concept form, it came fitted with a black grille with red accent lines. To make sure people recognize it as a GT model, the vehicle was also given a more aggressive body kit and sportier seats.

With the vehicle coming in with a GT badge, you would think that it would also be getting a powertrain upgrade but that is not the case. Under the hood will still be the VR6 engine that will be mated to a dual clutch transmission and will be offering about 280hp and 258lb ft of torque.
