2018 Volkswagen Atlas TDI: So Close, Yet So Far
Residents of the US are so close to the 2018 Volkswagen Atlas TDI that they could reach out and touch it, but when it comes to actually driving it on the roads they are so far away. This is due to the fact that the vehicle is made in the US, but it’s not going to be made available for the market in the US.
Volkswagen only have themselves to blame of course thanks to the diesel scandal, which is still ongoing and which means vehicles from Volkswagen remain absent in showrooms in the US.
The Volkswagen Atlas TDI is the Atlas 7 seated crossover but the diesel version and it was shown off recently at the LA Auto Show. Strangely enough the vehicle is made in the US at the Tennessee factory but it is going to be exported to Russia. Volkswagen don’t have plans to sell it in the US, Western Europe or Canada, despite the fact that the vehicle was made to appeal to buyers in the US.
The Volkswagen Atlas TDI is going to offer the 2 ltire engine and this is all we know about the vehicle at the moment. The US is going to get the Atlas in a choice of 2 litre turbocharged inline 4 and 3.6 litre VR6 V6. The 4-cylinder offers around 238 horses and the VR6 about 280 horses.
