We haven’t been able to get much from the spy shots we recently saw of the 2018 Porsche Cayenne upon first look, even though the vehicle wasn’t under disguise. However we did see the roofline, which is now longer, the active rear spoiler and we got to see that the vehicle hasn’t changed its looks much.
On closer inspection it is a different story however as there are changes in the cabin thanks to a new layout. The 2018 Porsche Cayenne shares its cabin changes with the Macan and the powertrain is shared with the Porsche Panamera and the Audi Q7.
The MLB platform on the 2016 Audi Q7 helped the vehicle to shed more than 700lbs. however the weight loss on the 2018 Porsche Cayenne isn’t going to be anywhere near as drastic as that. We are expecting it to lose around 440lbs and there should be gains in fuel economy.
The platform has also been seen on the Bentley Bentayga and we expect the same to be used on the Volkswagen Touareg along with the Lamborghini Urus at some point in the future.
The 2018 Porsche Cayenne is expected to offer up the V8 twin-turbo 4 litre and V6 2.9 litre engines that were in the Panamera. The V6 offers up 440 horses in the Panamera and the V8 550 horses.
Right now the Cayenne offers the V8 4.8 litre engine offering 520 horsepower and the V6 3.6 litre offering 300 horses. The Cayenne Turbo S V8 engine offers 570 horses. So it looks like the 2018 Porsche Cayenne isn’t greedy and it is going to share.
