2018 Mazda CX-5 Coming Closer To Acura And Infiniti

Mazda is hoping to make the move away from the mass market and they want to take on BMW and Mercedes soon. But can they do it with the 2018 Mazda CX-5?

If they do want to get to this level they are going to have to make a move that is more progressive for their image. If not they stand to end up making the 2018 Mazda CX-5 look like Kia did with the K900.

Mazda isn’t just able to make a luxury division in the same way that Nissan did with the Infiniti or Honda and the Acura. This is due to the fact that they don’t have the money or the scale to be able to do it.

Mazda doesn’t offer all-electric or hybrid vehicles right now and if they were to move to luxury vehicles they would only be copying the small range of Porsche. Porsche however does enjoy a big portfolio with the 911 series but then this has taken them a lot of years.

Before Mazda is able to take on Mercedes, BMW and Audi they need first to get alongside Infiniti, Acura, Lexus and Genesis first. With the Kodo design they have managed to obtain a formula that is going to mean the Mazda 3 and 6 can catch up with the Infiniti Q50 and Lexus LS.

Mazda started to aim for more upmarket with the overhaul of the 2016 Mazda CX-9 along with the Mazda MX-5 RF. The latter managed to lose the looks that are bland and now it offers looks that are more along the lines of the CX-9. This allows them to get one step even closer to breaking into the premium market and the lineup of vehicles from them should follow on.
