2018 Mazda 6: More Tech Disappointment For Owners?

By  |

The 2018 Mazda 6 could offer up more disappointment for owners in regards to the technology it will offer. There was a lot of anticipation for the 2017 version but when it arrived it didn’t offer up support for Apple CarPlay.

The Mazda 6 sales have been on the decline and don’t have anything to do with the fact that the vehicle lacks power, style or doesn’t offer up good fuel economy. What has perhaps let it down more than anything is the lack of CarPlay. This was one of the most disappointing aspects and we fear that the same could happen with the 2018 Mazda 6 when it arrives.

While many carmakers are jumping on the bandwagon and offering Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Mazda stands out alone by refusing to add the technology to the Mazda 6. If you cast your mind back a couple of years they promised that they would bring Apple CarPlay to the vehicle, but this hasn’t happened and owners are stuck with the Mazda Connect infotainment system.

Apple CarPlay offers a lot more than the Connect system, it has an interface that is cleaner looking and real-time traffic and people are going to miss this if Mazda doesn’t offer it up in the 2018 Mazda 6. Apple revealed some great updates to the system following the WWDC event, including making improvements to the maps and adding in support for more apps into messaging.

So come on Mazda, how about giving people what they want and offering Apple CarPlay in the 2018 Mazda 6?
