The most popular vehicle of Jeep is said to be the Jeep Wrangler, however this hasn’t been the best-seller and in fact in came in third place. This has all been down to good reason and the fact is that it was only produced at a single production plant over in the US.
The first priority of Jeep is the US market and this accounts for only 20% of the 250,000 units being sold to buyers outside of the US.
In contrast is the Jeep Renegade and this vehicle is made in three different regions but it isn’t made in the US. Due to this around 62% of the sales were to people who don’t live in the US.
This may change as the FCA wants the Jeep Wrangler to be the number one to represent the brand and so they are giving it a huge boost. There isn’t going to be an issue with limited supply of the Wrangler any longer, which means that supply isn’t going to be earmarked for foreign markets. They have made an investment of $700 million and along with some big changes the capacity is going to be around 450,000 each year.
This is like the Ford Mustang when it was first launched outside of the US and it went down very well during the first year. The Jeep Wrangler is going to have to warn up outside of the US and in Australia it has already done so as it managed to sell out in the first month that it arrived there.
We are not expecting the a delay for the sales in Europe, Asia and the Middle East as they are still sparse and the Jeep Renegades performance abroad may be enough for the Wrangler to enjoy huge success.
