Jaguar has made it clear that they are working to offer more electric models in the near future. In fact, one of the goals right now is to have all their new models electrify after 2020.
With that in mind, we should not be too surprised that Jaguar would choose to give the Jaguar XJ an upgrade that might involve an all-electric platform. The Jaguar XJ has been struggling to catch up with their rivals like the BMW 7 and Audi A8 these few years especially after those models were given an upgrade by their automakers.
Well, that won’t be an issue now because if this is true, the Jaguar XJ will be competing with a different list of rivals. Instead of the BMW 7 and Audi A8, the vehicle will be competing with the Tesla Model S, Porsche Mission E and more.
It is believed that the new Jaguar XJ model will be co-developed with the Road Rover, a high riding sedan that will be powered by an electric powertrain.
