There has always been something of a boyish charm about the Honda Civic and this is something that they have wanted to move away from. They did this to some extent by toning down the 2017 Honda Civic Type R and its most prominent aspects. However some of the styling has been too overwhelming for some people.

The spoiler at the back has been substantial and this is something that is remaining on the 2018 Honda Civic Type R. Recently we saw the Type R in testing and it showed off three exhausts.

The Honda Civic Type R offers up a 2 litre turbocharged 4 cylinder engine, which should mean an increase of horsepower to 320. There are some people who believe that we may even see it boosted to 340 horses.

A lot of the design changes are not going to be an issue on the Honda Civic Type R. however people may have an issue with the all-wheel drive version as just as with the Subaru WRX STi, the Type R is not going to give people what they want.

One of the biggest issues with the Subaru WRX STi is that it doesn’t offer anything more than a performance sedan does. People were hoping that a five door variation of the Impreza would be making a comeback to the market.

Subaru says that they have good reason not to offer up the hot hatchback and the reason they gave was the Honda Civic Type R, the Golf R and the Ford Focus RS. Subaru might not be able to tell any difference between it and its competition, which would all be hatchbacks.

But will Honda go down the same path and choose not to offer up the Honda Civic Type R with AWD?
