The 2017 Honda Civic Type-R has been revealed and this is the first Type-R to be launching in North America in the spring. There isn’t a power upgrade coming as it will offer the 2 litre turbocharged four engine offering 306 horses and 295 torque, with the VTEC valve timing system. But is it going to be sizzling hot thanks to the mechanical improvements?.
The Honda Civic Type-R offers a suspension setup that is unique, having its own spring, damper and bushing calibrations, dual-axis front suspension with aluminium lower arms, plus steering knuckles, four wheel adaptive suspension, adaptive electric power steering system with variable gear ratio and helical limited-slip front differential.
The brakes of the Honda Civic Type-R come from Brembo with 13.8 inch cross drilled rotors on the front and 12 inch solid ones on the back. All versions of the Type-R will be offered with 20 inch alloys, which come fitted with 245/30R summer performance tires.
