Motor Trend recently undertook the latest in the Hot Lap series and this saw the Ford Mustang GT350 R going up against the Nissan GT-R. When it comes to handling the GT350 R came out ahead, which shows that things with the vehicle are getting better.

This is a trend that should continue when they launch the new Shelby GT500, which should make its way out in 2017. The Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 is going to offer up more aggression and power and the handling should also have improved. Now we are hearing rumors going around that the next gen version is going to have stolen some of the styling of the Nissan GT-R.

Word has it that the front steering spindles of the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 is going to have splines that have been designed for the CV shaft. This means that we can expect a front engine with rear transaxle and the driveshaft will go to the front.

This is a setup that we have come to know on the Nissan GT-R due to the fact that it helps improve the cars performance while at the same time improving the handling of the vehicle by a considerable amount.

If the rumors prove to be true then we can only imagine what the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 is going to offer when out on the Hot Lap. It should allow people to see the Nissan GT-R for being what it is, a supercar that is now outdated.
