2018 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Losing V8 Gaining EcoBoost?
Fans are getting very excited for the arrival of the next generation of the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500. This is down to the fact that the vehicle will offer up more by way of performance thanks to the 10 speed automatic gears. But what people do want to know is which powertrain will be mated to the transmission.
If you take the release pattern of Ford into account over the years then we know that they are trying to make the EcoBoost engine the primary one. The Ford Mustang GT350 has the 2.3 litre EcoBoost and this offers more power than the V6 engine. What is strange is that the engine is the same from the version before and this saw a drop in the power figures.
Ford could be trying to push for the naturally aspirated engine to become less exciting that the turbocharged EcoBoost. This may mean that in years to come the EcoBoost will offer more power than the V8 engine.
The V8 engine could get a tune down so it offers less power and this would make the EcoBoost seem to be even better.
