There has been a lot of talk going around about the fact that Ford is working on a diesel engine that will be seen in the Ford F-150. Now many think that the diesel engine is coming ever closer and it might make an appearance next year.

We haven’t heard much about the 2018 Ford F-150 but it has been said that it is going to be given an update to the exterior for 2018 and it will be offered with the new diesel V6 engine. This is the same engine that was used in the Land Rover Td6 and it is the 3 litre turbo diesel.

Some people believe that the engine is going to be a game changer for the Ford F-150 but there are some who say that it will not affect the F-150 sales as the majority of people are going to stick with the EcoBoost version due to it offering more power and it being cheaper.

But would you choose the EcoBoost engine or would you stick with the diesel engine?

Depends on the towing with available axles.

The RAM Eco Diesels maximum tow rating, combined with its premium pricing, was disappointing. While it would tow my trailer, it didn’t have the comfort margin I wanted (amount of tow rating above the trailer weight). For me, the day to day (riding empty) MPG is not enough benefit to offset the added cost, especially if it has marginal towing number for my trailer. But if it can tow near as much as the EcoBoost or 5.0L V8, while getting better mileage, then its worth the premium.
