Ford wants to prove everyone wrong by offering up a hunky full sized boxy looking truck that is able to exceed the fuel economy standards that are becoming increasingly tight. They have done well with the Ford F-150 and they are planning on going even further.

They looked into the benefits of using aluminum along with turbocharged engines and ten speeds for the transmission. Now the Ford F-150 is going to reap the benefits of additional mileage from a diesel engine taken from the Land Rover.

We have already seen some spy photos that give us confirmation that the diesel Ford F-150 is coming our way in 2018. It is going to offer up the 3 litre engine that was seen in the Range Rover Td6 and this should offer up 28mpg out on the highway.

This is going to be only 1mpg lower than what is offered with the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel. The gas savings due to the Ford F-150 lightweight build and the transmission could help the diesel to reach figures that are even higher.

The diesel engine in the Range Rover offers up 254 horses and 440 torque and this is better than the turbocharged from the Ram 1500 and 240 horses and 420 torque.
