Even though the Ford F-150 was one of the top trucks in the market, it was never a threat to the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel model mainly because the Ford F-150 did not have a powerful diesel engine under the hood and those looking for a diesel powerhouse would never even think of the Ford F-150 but that will be changing real soon as Ford prepares to bring in the Ford F-150 Diesel model.
The diesel powered model will be coming in as a 2018 model and according to the reports, the 2018 Ford F-150 Diesel will come running on the 3.0 liter Powerstroke diesel engine. To top it all off, the engine will also be mated to a 10-speed auto transmission.
Ford will be using what they learn from working on LR’s turbodiesel engine to make sure the Ford F-150 is good enough to go up against the Ram 150 EcoDiesel model. The LR turbodiesel engine was pushing out about 240h and 420lb ft of torque and Ford will have to push it even further if they want to take down Ram.
