The Ford F-150 has always been the best-seller among pickup trucks in the US but up to now wasn’t able to compete with the RAM 1500 EcoDiesel, but now things have changed.
The 2018 Ford F-150 is going to come with the3 litre PowerStroke diesel engine along with the new 10 speed automatic gears of Ford. However this is all that we really know about the story until it unfold some more.
Now we are hearing about which direction Blue Oval might be taking the Ford F-150 Diesel. We have heard that they could be bringing it closer to the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel, so it is possible that the carmaker might make the diesel more efficient and potent than the rival.
It was also said that the expertise that Ford used when it came to designing the 3 litre diesel V6 engine in the Land Rover line-up would come in and work for their new mill. The turbodiesel engine that was used at JLR was made along with the partnership with Peugeot.
If they want to beat the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel then Ford is going to have to make sure that the PowerStroke diesel is able to offer up more than 240 horses and 420 torque. It should also offer up over 21mpg when driving in the city and 29mpg when out on the highway. As the 3 litre diesel of the Range Rover offers up 254 horses and 443 torque, so Blue Oval really has the upper hand for output.
But do you think that Ford F-150 Diesel would be able to take on the Ram 1500 diesel?
