2018 BMW M5 vs Mercedes-AMG E63: Turning The Right Wheels

By  |

The 2018 BMW M5 and the Mercedes AMG E63 are two great choices of vehicle, but which would you choose to drive away in?

The Mercedes AMG E63 offers the 4 litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine that offers up 563 horses along with 553 torque. If you go for the E63 S version then you get 603 horses along with 627 of torque. This version is the most powerful to come from the company in the E-Class.

The Mercedes AMG E63 S goes from standing still to 60mph in only 3.3 seconds and it offers a drive that is engaging. What’s more is the fact that it offers up drifting, albeit this is something that very few owners of the vehicle take full advantage of. The chairman did boast about the drift mode and the feature becomes available when you turn of ESP and put the transmission into manual.

The BMW M5 may not offer up a drift mode but it is going to offer up AWD and it is going to be the first in the M series to have AWD. All versions of the M series have been rear wheel drive but it seems that BMW are not going to be restricted to just one type of technology.

They do stand to annoy some of the purists and fans of the BMW M5 by going AWD but then what really matters is the performance of the vehicle. BMW want to design an AWD vehicle that mimics RWD if possible. In essence they want to offer an all-wheel drive that would offer up the performance and feel of the rear-wheel drive, but it would have additional traction support.

But what are your thoughts about the AWD version of the BMW M5 and would you like to get behind the wheel of the Mercedes AMG E63 and go drifting?
