2018 Audi Q5 vs BMW X3: Sporty Ain’t Enough

By  |

There is a lot more to sporty looks when it comes to the 2018 Audi Q5 and the BMW X3. Both vehicles are sized perfectly for families and while they do have a somewhat sporty look to them, they have been designed specifically for comfort when driving. Both are responsive, fuel efficient and offer up plenty of style.

The Audi Q5 and the BMW X3 outclass rivals such as the Volvo XC60 and Land Rover Discovery Sport. Both offer all-round utility along with plenty of class, but it is the Q5 that stands out as being the better of the two.

The Audi Q5 doesn’t look like the typical SUV and it was given a redesign from the ground up for 2017. It offers up a new platform along with plenty of technology but the BMW X3 is a great contender. The styling of the X3 is more expressive and it does take on a less blocky look. The cabin has been upgraded to business class and a higher grade of materials has been used.

The Audi Q5 offers up the turbocharged 4 cylinder engine, but we are going to see it being made available in the V6 soon. It has the 2 litre inline 4-cylinder as the entry level engine, but it has been upgraded. It has the 7 speed automatic gears and all-wheel drive is standard.

The BMW X3 28i offers the 300 horsepower inline 6 engine and 8 speed automatic. The 4-cylinder comes in all-wheel or rear-wheel drive and the 6 is four-wheel.

The Audi Q5 is going to set you back at least $40k and they can get up to over $60k if you go for all the options in the 6-cylinder. You don’t get many features if you go for the base version, however you do get an infotainment system and Bluetooth. The Q5 offers up more tech if you pay more and you can get the head-up display.

Both the Audi Q5 and the BMW X3 are superb choices but the Q5 is slightly ahead for day to day driving and it comes with more technology.
