2017 Toyota Prius Prime Figures Scare Chevy Volt, Hyundai Ioniq

By  |

While the Chevrolet Volt might have sold over 3.5k units during December 2016 the biggest leap in sales comes from the Toyota Prius Prime as it made a jump up from 781 sales to 1,641 during the first to second month of being available for sale. This means that it must have put a scare into the Volt and of course it has now set a high benchmark for the Hyundai Ioniq PHEV when it arrives.

The Toyota Prius plug-in hybrid came in as the top seller in the US during its reign and it came in as the second best for all electric vehicles during 2012 and the 4th most popular in the US in 2013 and 2014. But what about the new version?

The Toyota Prius Prime managed to sell 781 units in the first month of it being out and during the second month it sold 1, 641 units. If the vehicle had been on sale all year and had it been able to keep up the sales rate it would have come in second or even beat the sales of the Chevrolet Volt.

The Toyota Prius Prime is going to be a hit in the US as it is now eligible for the California HOV lane sticker and it competes well when it comes to the price tag. It is also eligible for the Federal Tax deduction.
