The 2017 Tesla Model S isn’t chasing after the Chevrolet Volt or the Nissan Leaf anymore as it is setting its sights on going for the vehicles from Mercedes, Audi and BMW.

Just a few years ago people laughed at the thought of Tesla being able to come up with an electric luxury sedan. However, Tesla has laughed all the way to the bank and proved people wrong with the likes of the 2017 Tesla Model S.

The Tesla Model S has been the best-selling luxury sedan over in the US. A third of sales have been the Model S and they increased by 59% in comparison to the same period the previous year when they sold 9, 156 units.

The 2017 Tesla Model S has also beat sales of the Audi A8, BMW 7 and the Mercedes-Benz S-Class.

Tesla has also been behind a third of all luxury car sales when it comes to the large segment and it’s not only the Tesla Model S that has been selling well. Tesla said that 5, 428 units of the Tesla Model X have been sold too.
