We have been hearing a lot about Porsche possibly launching a hybrid or plug-in Porsche 911 but things haven’t been looking too good for it to become reality.

However Porsche did look into building the Porsche 911 with an electric motor in the past and they did look into it with some seriousness. While they even raced two variations of the GT3 R hybrid, and we even saw a road going version, sadly the hybrid never actually came to life.

On the plus side Porsche did file a patent and this gave us a look at the Porsche 911 plugged into a charger, which gave way to rumors that we would see an electric powertrain on the next generation version.

So the big question remains as to whether or not we are ever going to see a Porsche 911 in hybrid format.
