2017 Mazda CX-5 Brings Even More Firepower Than CX-9

The Mazda CX-5 comes with a design that takes inspiration from the bigger Mazda CX-9 with three rows, but what it doesn’t offer up is the diesel engine and the manual transmission that come with the CX-9.

One thing about Mazda is the fact that while they make vehicles for the masses they always offer vehicles with enthusiasts in mind. The 2017 Mazda CX-5 is testament to this. The vehicle was shown off at the LA Auto Show and it arrived with the Kodo design language.

The 2017 Mazda CX-5 is going to offer up the 2 litre and 2.5 litre gas engines, however, the engine that intrigues people the most is the Skyactiv D twin-turbocharged 2.2 litre with four cylinders. This engine was going to arrive in the Mazda 6 during 2014 but it wasn’t able to pass emissions tests.

We haven’t heard confirmation about the specs of the diesel engine in the Mazda CX-5, however, the 2.2 litre that should have arrived with the Mazda 6 offered 173 horses and 310 torque. The engines of Mazda are typically shared with multiple models, so we shouldn’t be surprised.

Mazda likes to offer cars designed with people in mind, and the Mazda CX-5 is no exception.
