2017 Maserati Levante vs Alfa Romeo Stelvio: For Different Tastes
If you have plenty of money to spend on a new car and you are looking to buy a stunning performance vehicle with the Italian branding you might be considering the 2017 Maserati Levante and the Alfa Romeo Stelvio. Both vehicles are superb but both are for different tastes, so which is your taste?
The 2017 Maserati Levante and Alfa Romeo Stelvio are both crossovers made in Italy and both come with superb engines and plenty of luxury features and equipment. However there are some differences between the two.
The specs of the Alfa Romeo Stelvio haven’t been fully disclosed yet. The vehicle does have a younger look when compared to the Maserati as the dynamic creases make it appear windswept.
The 2017 Maserati Levante on the other hand offers plenty of accents in chrome, these can be found around the windows, door handles, grille and in the middle of the trunk. It has a somewhat bulbous rear and long nose and this means the overall shape is elongated and round.
Both vehicles are packed with luxury inside but then there are many differences to the two cabins. The Maserati Levante offers leather seating as standard, while there is the optional package offering leather and silk seats. There are plenty of aluminium accents around the cabin and the whole interior is clean and classic looking, with a touchscreen of 8.4 inches.
The cabin of the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio comes with Alcantara leather cover and seats that are heavily bolstered. There is a wide screen infotainment system inside the top of the dash, while the Stelvio Ti comes with more refinement and offers real wood accents.
The Alfa Romeo Stelvio has two engines on offer and both of these have big differences when it comes to power. The Maserati Levante engine falls in-between them. The Stelvio comes with the 2 litre turbocharged four cylinder engine offering 280 horses and the 2.9 litre twin-turbocharged V6 offering 505 horses. The Levante offers the 3 litre twin-turbocharged V6 and this offers either 345 horses or 424 horses. It can reach 60mph in 5 seconds.
The 2017 Maserati Levante doesn’t look as though it would do well off the road, however it does and it comes well equipped to do so. It offers up a ride that is comfortable on even the roughest of surfaces and it comes with an off-road mode that at the flick of a switch adjusts the engine, suspension and transmission so that it can deal with the tougher conditions. The Alfa Romeo Stelvio doesn’t come with off-road features but if you go for the Quadrifoglio mode it comes with Race mode. This brings over-boost and disables ESC, along with enhancing the throttle calibration, performance of the engine and the responsiveness of the steering.
So would you choose the 2017 Maserati Levante or the Alfa Romeo Stelvio?
