2017 Jeep Renegade vs Honda HR-V: Couldn’t Be More Different
The 2017 Jeep Renegade and the Honda HR-V are two vehicles that are very different but we are here comparing them.
Both the 2017 Jeep Renegade and the Honda HR-V are popular choices among SUVs. The latter is the smaller brother to the CR-V and the former comes below the Cherokee SUV and Liberty. Both have different focuses as the Honda is perfect for driving around the city and Jeep is known for its off the road ability.
The Honda HR-V offers the 1.8 litre 4 cylinder engine offering up 141 horses and it comes with 6 speed manual or CVT. There is the choice of all-wheel drive but only if you opt for the CVT. The Jeep Renegade comes in two powertrains and both of them have the all-wheel drive as optional. There is the 1.4 litre turbocharged 4 cylinder offering 160 horses with the 6 speed manual gears and the 2.4 litre inline-4 offering 180 horses and 9 speed auto.
One of the biggest advantages the Honda HR-V has over the Jeep Renegade is the large amount of room in the vehicle. In the back you can get two adults and there is plenty of room, along with two people upfront. You can get four in the Jeep but it’s very tight. In fact the HR-V is the vehicle with the largest amount of space in the segment and it comes with the seat that folds and flips the second row for many configurations.
Both the Jeep Renegade and the Honda HR-V are refined and quiet out on the road, while the Jeep is more sensitive when driving on harsher pavements. The Honda HR-V comes in with a price tag of $20,000 for the base vehicle and the Jeep Renegade has a price tag around $1,000 lower for the entry level.
The Honda HR-V wins for fuel economy and interior space and the Jeep Renegade wins for offering up better off the road options and style. But which of the two vehicles would you choose?
