Big changes are coming for Jeep and the Jeep Cherokee is going to be the one that cops for it the most. The FCA want the Jeep Wrangler to become the best-seller outside and inside of the US.
In the US the Jeep Wrangler has managed to overtake sales of the Jeep Cherokee and this applies to both year to date and monthly sales and Jeep want this to continue.
Jeep is moving the production of the Jeep Cherokee from the plant in Toledo so they can boost the production of the Jeep Wrangler from the 240,000 vehicles to 450,000 per year.
We have seen the compact crossover take over the Renegade and internationally there hasn’t been any other nameplate from Jeep to have come anywhere close to the sales growth of the Jeep Renegade.
Around 70% of the sales have been for buyers outside of the US and if it continues we could see the Jeep Renegade take over from the Jeep Cherokee to become the best-seller internationally.
The Jeep Wrangler is popular and if the production is boosted then it could take over from the Jeep Cherokee internationally. However in the US things would differ as the platform on the Renegade is going to be the one that is used on the Patriot and Compass.
