2017 Hyundai Ioniq Served Prius, Bolt For Breakfast
The 2017 Hyundai Ioniq is able to eat up both the Toyota Prius and Chevrolet Bolt for breakfast. We say this as the Ioniq beats the Bolt and the Prius when it comes to mileage offered.
The 2017 Hyundai Ioniq has managed to earn itself the title of being the top MPGe in the Annual Fuel Economy Guide as it offers up 136MPGe combined. This meant that the Ioniq came out ahead of vehicles including the BMW i3, which offers 124MPGe and the Chevrolet Bolt, which managed to take third place with 119MPGe.
The Hyundai Ioniq took the title in the midsized category and the BMW i3 took the win for the subcompact and the Bolt the small station wagon category.
The Toyota Prius had previously been the king of mileage as it offered 56mpg combined. The Hyundai Ioniq beat it by 2mpg at 58mpg. According to Hyundai the vehicle is going to offer an EPA of 57mpg when in the city and 59mpg when out on the highway.
The Hyundai Ioniq all-electric is going to be arriving in dealers at the end of the year and it will offer up a range of 124 miles. Nothing has been said about the PHEV, which should be coming our way during the third quarter of 2017.
The Hyundai Ioniq has the 1.6 litre direct-injected four-cylinder engine with 104 horses and 109 of torque and this is the first from the carmaker to offer three distinct electric powertrains on one dedicated vehicle platform.
