January has proven that once again it is SUVs that are popular as they have continued to sell at a rate of 41% compared to 37% for cars. Pickups took 16% of sales and vans 6% out of the 1.14 million vehicles that were sold. One vehicle that hasn’t wasted any time in taking the crown among SUVs is the 2017 Honda CR-V.
January 2017 did see a drop of 2% in sales compared to the same period the year before. But then January generally isn’t a great month for selling vehicles so this really isn’t anything to go on.
The Honda CR-V has been the best-seller for the month as it managed to sell 29, 287 units. The Honda Civic was also popular as it sold 23, 095 units. The Ford Escape, Toyota RAV4 and Nissan Rogue all did well too compared to cars.
January saw a slight increase in zero percent finance loans, 10% is a high level for January even though it may not sound it. Popularity of SUVs have seen a rise in the transaction price for a brand new vehicle, as on average they cost $34, 960. This is a 4% year over year increase.
So while January may not be the best month for selling vehicles, the Honda CR-V has got off the starting grid for good sales this year.
