If the two door version of the 2016 Honda Civic Coupe is the base for the Civic Si then the 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback might be the base of the 2018 Honda Civic Type R.

The hatchback is said to be cutting down on the aggressive looking design elements for the production and it may end up looking along the same lines as the Type R.

Along with this it is thought that Honda intends the base Civic to be the canvas for their other vehicles, due to the success the nameplate has enjoyed.

The sedan is going to be the preview for the next generation and the Honda Civic Hatchback will inspire the 5th gen Honda CR-V, as it shares the same platform.

Of course we are not expecting the Honda CR-V to offer up the exact same looks to the Type R.
