The 2016 version of the Honda Civic Coupe has the basis of the Honda Civic Si, while the five door version of the 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback is the base of the 2018 Honda Civic Type R and it is going to offer up to 340 horses thanks to the 2 litre EarthDreams turbocharged four cylinder engine.
It has been said that the hatchback is going to stand down when it comes to aggressive design looks and that the Honda Civic Hatchback production version is going to look a lot like the Type R.
Honda does want the base Honda Civic models to be the base for other vehicles that they are adding to their lineup.
The sedan is going to be a preview of the upcoming Honda Accord and the hatchback is going to be the inspiration for the Honda CR-V fifth generation.
We are not saying that the Honda CR-V is going to look the same as the Type R, it may or it may not, however we do know that there will be plenty of the five door Honda Civic on the five door compact SUV. There are some aspects of the hatchback that will be consistent with the Honda CR-V and this includes the center mounted dual exhaust pipes.
