2017 Chevrolet Volt Learning From Mistake Of Cadillac ELR

By  |

Out of the two vehicles the Chevrolet Volt is the far superior vehicle but it hasn’t managed to overtake the global sales of the Nissan Leaf thanks to it being sparse on the international market. Only a selection of the global market have the plug-in hybrid.

GM has been looking to expand however and they are having a second go at cracking the Chinese market. This time around they are rebranding the vehicle with the name of the Buick Velite.

They have chosen to pull the Chevrolet Volt after three years and this is said to be down to poor pricing. This was exactly the same reason why the Cadillac ELR failed on the market.

The Chevrolet Volt was selling for the equivalent of $79,000 in China and it began to fail in 2014.

It may make sense to rename the Chevrolet Volt under the Buick name as the premium brand has been popular in China. Some of the looks are different but overall the Velite does look a lot like the Volt and it does have the same engine, which is the 1.5 litre.

At the moment we don’t know how much the Velite is going to cost but it is going to be lower than the price tag of the Chevrolet Volt for sure.
