The Chevrolet Volt does have a great deal to offer consumers but it really didn’t show off its demand thanks to the sales numbers that were measly. However GM then refrained from holding back on the availability of the Volt and ever since they did this the success of the vehicle has startled people.
The Chevrolet Volt did manage to beat the Nissan Leaf, which has been the closest rival to it, to become the first ever electric plug-in vehicle to enjoy more than 100,000 lifetime sales over in the US. You would never have thought that this would have been possible two years ago.
The Chevrolet Volt has managed to do this without the help of backing of huge advertising from GM, apart from a single ad campaign that occurred last year when GM criticized the Toyota Prius along with the Nissan Leaf.
The car maker happens to be one of the biggest spenders on advertising in the world. At the moment the Chevrolet Volt is comes in second place for plug-in electric vehicles in the US this year, it came in behind the Tesla Model S.
Now the Chevrolet Volt has managed to beat the Nissan Leaf GM may turn their attention to taking over the top spot in domestic sales. It would have to do something special if it were to take over the Model S as this has been the best-sellers among electric vehicles in 2015; however GM hasn’t got the sluggish production issues that Tesla has.
Tesla said that the issues with production for the Model X and Model S at the plant have now settled down and this means that for the remainder of the time the production should go down well. Of course this is something that has been said before.
So could the Chevrolet Volt manage to beat the Tesla Model S and claim the 2016 crown for its own? It isn’t going to need much by way of advertising from GM as it is doing well without.
