2017 Chevrolet Volt Enjoyed Surprise Win Over Tesla
The Chevrolet Volt certainly had a great deal to offer and the sales numbers in the US, which were on the measly side, didn’t give us an accurate look into the demand that the vehicle had. GM began holding back on the vehicles availability and since then it has been enjoying success that has startled some people.
The Chevrolet Volt did get in front of the Nissan Leaf, which has been one of the closest rivals to it. It actually became the first plug-in electric vehicle to achieve 100,000 lifetime sales over in the US. If you had said that this would happen two years ago you would have been laughed at.
Of course you do have to take into account the fact that series-parallel hybrid has managed to do this with almost no backing from the advertising budget of GM, apart from a single ad campaign last year, which pointed out the bad sides of the Toyota Prius and the Nissan Leaf.
Now that the Chevrolet Volt has managed to beat the Nissan Leaf, GM might now turn their focus to the domestic sales top spot. It would be something if they could beat the Tesla Model S, which has been the top-selling electric vehicle around the globe since 2015 and which hasn’t been affected by poor production issues.
So could the Chevrolet Volt actually go ahead and beat the Tesla Model S to take the crown for 2016 for sales in the US?
