2017 Chevrolet Volt: Could It Take Tesla In Surprise Win
The Chevrolet Volt does have a lot to offer but you wouldn’t be able to see this if you go on the sales in the US as they don’t represent the demand for the vehicle. However now that GM has given up on holding back on its availability and since then the success of the vehicle has been startling.
The Chevrolet Volt has beaten the Nissan Leaf and this was one of the closest rivals. It has now become the first plug-in electric vehicle to have 100,000 lifetime sales over in the US. You would have thought this would be impossible two years ago.
It has been worth noting that the hybrid has been able to gain good sales and it did this without almost no backing from GM and their huge spending on ads, apart from a single small ad that came out last year and they criticized the Toyota Prius and the Nissan Leaf.
The car maker is known to be the biggest spender when it comes to advertising around the world. At the moment the Volt comes in second place as the top-selling plug-in hybrid in the US, with just 2,000 units coming in behind the Tesla Model S.
With it having beaten the Nissan Leaf, GM should move its attention to the top spot in domestic sales. It would be something if they were able to take over and win the Tesla Model S, which was the best-selling electric vehicle during 2015. Of course GM is not plagued by the sluggish production issues that Tesla has been having.
Tesla said that the problems they have had with the Tesla Model S have now been settled and they believe that the rest of the year should go very smoothly, but then haven’t we heard that before.
So with this in mind it could be possible that the Chevrolet Volt may get ahead of the Tesla Model S and it could take the sales crown for 2016 in the US. It may not even need advertising support because whatever they are doing at the moment they seem to be doing it very well.
