2017 Chevrolet Camaro 1LE Could Shame Hellcat 707 Horsepower

The Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 has been getting a lot of attention and rightly so. However the first Camaro V6 with the 1LE name tag shouldn’t be pushed aside as being just another offering from GM as it has given the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat something to worry about.

In the Lightning Lap of Car and Driver, the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro 1LE V6, which comes in under the $35k mark, beat the Ford Mustang V6, which held the title, by 8 seconds.

The Ford Mustang managed a 3 minute and 12.5 second lap, but the Chevrolet Camaro 1LE took the same lap in just 3 minutes and 4 seconds. This time humbles that of the Dodge Challenger Hellcat, however it does compete in a totally different category.

The muscle of the Dodge Challenger Hellcat, even with the output being superior to the Camaro V6 and 335 horses, came in just half a second faster than the Ford Mustang. This does of course flatter GM but it does indicate that the Hellcat is in need of being revamped.

The Chevrolet Camaro SS 1LE hasn’t been doing too well as it came in last in the drag race of Motor Trend. However it did take just 12.7 seconds to do the quarter mile and for that it should hold its head high.
