2017 Acura MDX vs Volvo XC90: Which Is Premium Dark Horse?

By  |

Just over a decade ago the Acura brand name was one that offered up plenty of promise along with having the potential to challenge some of the biggest players among the premium market. However during recent years they have lost some of their steam, which happens to be a pit when you take into account how popular the premium SUV/crossover market is right now.

The Honda premium division however is coming back fighting and one vehicle is the Acura Precision concept, which is the 2017 Acura MDX and it is going to take on the likes of Audi and BMW.

This isn’t the only vehicle that is making a comeback though as we are expecting the 2016 Volvo XC90 on the all new scalable platform, part of the $11 billion investment by the car maker, which set benchmarks for upmarket SUVs.

It is going to be interesting to see if the premium dark horse from Acura is going to be able to take on one of the top dogs among the segment.

The Volvo XC90 does offer a look that is conservative while at the same time having headlights that look like Thors Hammer. The cabin offers plenty of plush materials along with wood trims.

The Acura SUV offers up a V6 3.5 litre engine which offers up 290 horses and it comes with the nine speed gearing in a choice of FWD or AWD. The Sport Hybrid offers 325 horses and seven speed dual clutch and it offers up 26mpg.

But would you choose the Volvo XC90 or would it be the Acura MDX SUV that took your money?
