The 2016 Toyota Tundra has been surrounded by disappointment in regards to highway safety tests. The only truck that has managed to earn itself a good rating has been the Ford F-150. The safety test results tell us that the Tundra really has to improve in the small frontal overlap test.
This test simulates the effects of what would happen if the vehicle crashed into a telephone pole or even a tree, if that vehicle crashed on the front corner of the vehicle.
The Toyota Tundra did get a score that was acceptable for the double cab and the CrewMax only managed to score marginal. The vehicle did get results that were poor for the lower foot and the leg.
The Toyota Tundra double cab managed to get a good score for the roof strength test.
The results of the test have been disappointing as people thought that perhaps the Toyota Tundra might get the same good rating that the Toyota Prius earned.
