The last ever production vehicles of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo are rolling off the production line and there are people who are willing to pay out for it despite the fact that the Subaru WRX STi is cheaper and just as powerful.
The Final Edition Mitsubishi Lancer Evo units were recently sold at an auction for charity and they fetched more than $45,000. The last of the 1,600 units managed to achieve more than $76, 400 recently in an auction on eBay Motors.
This is more than double the starting price of the Subaru WRX STi at $35,200. Of course the money raised from the sales of the vehicles is going to charity but then its almost twice the entry price for the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo Final Edition, which was $38,000.
You could pick up the vehicle before it was announced that it was bowing out for around $34, 500. Of course the Final Edition is a bit different to the GSR trim, however it has been based around the entry level version.
The Mitsubishi Lancer Evo Final Edition comes with the 2 litre four cylinder engine that offers up 303 horses and 305 of torque. This was a boost from 291 horses and 300 torque. Some premium features have been taken from the MR trim, costing $39,000 too.
What the cost of the Mitubishi Lancer Evo Final Edition does go to prove is that hot hatches that fall into the $35,000 category are popular. However Subaru has made the right choice in keeping four doors on the Subaru WRX STi.
