If we hear about a device having a price drop there are generally two reasons. The first of these is that it is a sale in order to make way for other devices or there will soon be a new version released.
2013 MacBook Air tipped as current model sees discount
With this in mind there is sure to be a lot of speculation about the 2013 version of the MacBook Air as you can get the computer now with $200 off the full retail price.
It could be that the MacBook Air discount is only temporary; however there are many people that are giving it more precedence than this. There is speculation that this could mean that there will be an early refresh of the MacBook for 2013. However it could be far too soon for this as the last update was only in June of 2012. However Apple have been known to release a product out of the cycle for updating in the past.
On the other hand towards the end of 2012 we found that Apple was already working on releasing a new MacBook Air and Pro for 2013 in June. Whether this would include a change to the exterior looks is anyone’s guess, however the design of the MacBook Air was altered in late 2012 and so Apple may make a change.
Thrown into the mix is the fact that people were told that the MacBook Air out now would be dropped in price just before the refresh, however people assumed that this would be at the Apple Store and not with a 3rd party store such as Best Buy.
Apple may very well keep the design of the current MacBook Air, however they could change the hardware, including moving to the Intel Haswell processor. Other than this don’t expect many changes.
