Owners of the Samsung Galaxy S3 in the UK will soon be getting notifications that they can download the update to Jelly Bean, regardless of the network they happen to be with. Jelly Bean has started to roll out across the UK and this means that some owners have now got the update, while others will be getting it very soon.
Samsung Galaxy S3 Jelly Bean update: UK first then US later on
Samsung UK confirmed the roll out for Jelly Bean would happen over the coming weeks, following testing and approval. ZDNET reports that all UK Samsung Galaxy S3 phones should be updated to Jelly Bean within the next few weeks. The Three network confirmed they had started the update process via their Twitter account.
In the past carriers have been the guilty parties in slow updates getting to owners of devices after Google had released the update. One of the main reasons for this is due to the fact of testing software and another is that carriers have to retool apps and services to ensure that they work with the latest OS.
While UK Samsung Galaxy S3 users can relax now, those in the US look like their in for a long wait. Samsung US has stated that the Jelly Bean update will roll out in the next couple of months. This ties in with rumors which suggest it may only be 2013 before all the carriers have Jelly Bean rolled out to the Samsung Galaxy S3.
